OT Department participation in Health Profession Conference 2019-2020

The Occupational therapy faculty participated in Health Profession Conference by conducting a lecture about holistic approach and occupational therapy in neurological conditions. This conference attended many Occupational therapist, students, and health care professions.

OT Department Celebration of International OT Day 2020

In the recognition of the International Occupational Therapy Day, OT department celebrated the day by designing a brochure. The event was held online and involved different countries. Many students were participated in the event.​

WORLD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY DAY 2021

OT Department Celebrated the world OT day 2021 by organizing a series of virtual lectures that covers various topics related to OT field to improve the knowledge of OT practitioners and 4th years OT students. These virtual lectures were presented by experienced therapists and OT faculty.

OT participation in "حياتك أغلى" Exhibition 

In collaboration with the National Guard at Al-Ahsa, the OT department participated alongside other departments to promote a life free of drugs and its usage at the National Guard club.

Backpack Awareness Day

This activity is aimed to increase awareness of packing and wearing school backpacks among primary school students at Al-Anjal school, Alahsa. Students were able to help in educating the public about backpack and other kinds of bag safety by holding a weigh-in that targeted backpacks, purses, briefcases, purses, or other heavy bags. This was done to make sure that backpacks weigh no more than 10% of the student’s body weight.

World Cerebral Palsy Day"

 

Event Title: World Cerebral palsy Day

The World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day program aims to raise awareness about children with cerebral palsy, the role of occupational therapy among healthcare professionals, and community members. The event encourages knowledge-sharing, skill development, and collaborative practice to highlight the importance of occupational therapy in improving the lives of children with cerebral palsy.

Objectives:

1. Raise awareness about children with cerebral palsy and the challenges they face.

2. Highlight the role of occupational therapy in the care and support of individuals with cerebral palsy.

3. Encourage knowledge-sharing and skill development among healthcare professionals and community members.

4. Promote collaborative practices to improve the lives of children with cerebral palsy through occupational therapy.

The Department of Occupational Therapy at KSAU-HS COAMS-A celebrated World Occupational Therapy Day with an event dedicated to promoting the importance of occupational therapy in enhancing health and well-being. The event was attended by students, faculty members, administrators, and healthcare professionals. The program aimed to foster greater awareness and encourage continued dedication among our students to advance the field of occupational therapy.

 

Objectives Achieved

Increased Awareness: The event successfully increased awareness of the role of occupational therapy in promoting health, especially through ergonomic solutions for spine care.

Professional Insight: Dr. Subramaniam's session offered practical knowledge that students can implement in clinical practice.

Community Building: Faculty, administration, and students came together to celebrate and support occupational therapy, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.

Occupational Therapy Campaign"

 

Event Title: World Occupational Therapy Day

Location: Open Area – Almoosa rehabilitation hospital

Time: 16:00 PM to 21:00 PM

The occupational therapy campaign, held at Almoosa rehabilitation hospital on 7 November 2024, successfully raised awareness about the importance of occupational therapy in promoting health and well-being. The event was organized by KSAU-HS Students affairs, with enthusiastic participation from COAMS-A Students who volunteered their time and efforts.

In collaboration with the SOTA and Almoosa rehabilitation hospital, the campaign provided interactive, educational materials, and demonstrations aimed at patients, public attendees, healthcare providers, and stakeholders.

Key highlights:

  • Interactive demonstrations of occupational therapy intervention
  • Displaying the role of occupational therapy in rehabilitation.
  • Engaging discussions with healthcare providers

9 Health Professional Conferences (15 -17 February 2025)

COAMS-A Occupational Therapy Program 

We are excited to share the recent achievements of our COAMS-A Occupational Therapy Program! From February 15 to 17, 2025, our team participated in a series of 9 Health Professional Conferences, showcasing our commitment to advancing occupational therapy.

Key Highlights:

Guest Speaker Engagement: Our program was represented by distinguished speakers at nine health conferences, sharing valuable insights and expertise in the field of occupational therapy (Title: “Transforming Healthcare: The Power of Digital Health in Saudi Arabia & Occupational Therapy” presented by Mr.Suresh Melamalai)

Research Presentations: Our faculty and researchers presented groundbreaking studies, contributing to the ongoing discourse in occupational therapy and its impact on community health. (Tile: Awareness about Occupational Therapy Role among Parents of Autistic Children in Saudi Arabia presented by Mr. Hashim AlHashim principal investigator Mr. Senthil Vadivel)

Student Volunteer Participation: Our dedicated students participated in various volunteer roles, demonstrating their commitment to community service and professional development.

NAFAS Awareness Campaign 

The Department of Respiratory Therapy and Occupational Therapy at the College of Applied Medical Sciences (COAMS-A), in cooperation with the Deanship of Student Affairs, successfully collaborated with the NAFAS campaign to host an awareness event on January 28, 2025, at the open area of KSAU-HS from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Event Objective:

The campaign aimed to raise awareness about the respiratory and cardiac systems and highlight their crucial roles in enhancing overall health and quality of life.
To raise awareness role of occupational therapy in cardio-respiratory problems with individuals.

Event Highlights:

Interactive Booths: Faculty members and students from both departments engaged visitors with informative displays, models, and demonstrations related to respiratory and cardiac health and rehabilitation.

Community Engagement: 

Students actively participated in guiding visitors, answering questions, and promoting healthy habits.

 1."Backpack Awareness

On May 1, 2025, KSAU-HS occupational therapy students held a "Backpack Awareness" event at Al-shaqiq Middle School. The session focused on educating students about the importance of proper backpack usage to prevent injuries. Through presentations and demonstrations, participants learned about the correct way to wear a backpack, recommended weight limits, and tips for organizing contents effectively. The event successfully raised awareness and provided valuable insights to promote safe backpack practices among students.

 2.Empowering Independence: A Community-Based OT Program for Older Adults​

On April 23, 2025, KSAU-HS fourth-year occupational therapy students conducted a community awareness program titled "Empowering Independence" at the Alahsa Municipality walking path from 4 PM to 8 PM. The event aimed to educate older adults about the importance of mobility and independence, providing valuable information on various occupational therapy techniques and resources available to enhance their daily living. Participants engaged in interactive discussions and activities designed to promote physical and mental well-being. The program successfully fostered community connections and raised awareness of the role of occupational therapy in supporting independence among older adults, making it a meaningful contribution to the local community.

3.The Role of Occupational Therapy in Early Childhood: Empowering Growth and Development

On April 5, 2025, an awareness program titled "The Role of Occupational Therapy in Early Childhood: Empowering Growth and Development" was held at the walking track of King Faisal University, Al-Ahsa. The event attracted 52 participants and aimed to educate the public about the vital role of occupational therapy (OT) in supporting the growth and development of young children. Through engaging activities and direct interactions, attendees learned how OT can enhance motor, cognitive, and daily life skills in children. The program effectively highlighted the importance of OT in early childhood, fostering greater community awareness and understanding of how these services can positively impact children's development.
