 Introduction


The Occupational Therapy (OT) Program at King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) was initially established at Riyadh campus, then extended to Jeddah campus, and finally expanded to Al-Ahsa campus in 2017, under the umbrella of College of Applied Medical Sciences. The Occupational Therapy Program was accredited by the World Federation of Occupational Therapy in 2016. The program at Al Ahsa campus currently accepts only male students although both male and female students will be accepted in the near future. Currently, four batches of students are admitted to the program of Occupational Therapy.

KSAU-HS, as a leading university in the kingdom and in the wider Arab region, provides quality education in Occupational Therapy as well as other professions through a distinguished curriculum (adapted from an Oklahoma State University program) and exceptional educational staff. The Occupational Therapy faculty who joined the university education team in 2018 include three lecturers; Mr. Paramasivan Mani M., PT., Mr. Senthil Vadivel MOT., Mr.Suresh Melamalai MOT., alongside three teaching assistants; Mr. Talal Al-Shammari MSc OT., Mr. Meshal Alanazi MSc. OT., and Mr. Mohammed Alsubeai BSc. OT. The department also hires an admin assistant, Mr. Ghanem Aldossari, and a laboratory custodian, Mr. Abdullah Almarri.

The Occupational Therapy (OCCT) program is committed to providing high-quality teaching and occupational therapy related research and fostering professional services and community engagement that meet the needs of people in Saudi Arabia.

Vision

The vision of the Occupational Therapy Program at CAMS is to have a positive impact on the field of Occupational Therapy through education, practice, and research. Our OT program aims to become a leader in occupational therapy education, producing occupational therapists that strive for and maintain the integrity of their profession, initiate necessary change in health care practice and policy, conduct evidence-based research, and integrate authentic occupational therapy practice with the most recent advancements in knowledge and technology.

Program Goals:

1. To graduate occupational therapist professionals who apply high practice standards that are evidence based.​
2. To prepare graduates to conduct scientific​ research in Occupational Therapy and health related sciences.
3. To encourage graduates' engagement in community services to enhance quality of life.
