The 1st Annual College of Applied Medical Sciences Research Day marks the beginning of a new tradition dedicated to advancing research and innovation in applied medical sciences. Designed to be an annual event,
​this initiative provides a dynamic platform for researchers, students, and faculty to showcase their work, exchange ideas, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

Description: This interactive workshop provides researchers with essential knowledge and practical skills to conduct high-quality systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Participants will learn how to develop a well-structured research question, define inclusion and exclusion criteria, and implement effective search strategies to identify relevant literature. The workshop will also cover techniques for extracting and analyzing data, assessing study quality, and synthesizing findings.
In the meta-analysis segment, attendees will gain insights into statistical methods for data synthesis, including effect size calculation, heterogeneity assessment, and result interpretation. Whether you are new to systematic reviews or looking to refine your skills, this workshop will guide you through each stage of the process to enhance the rigor and impact of your research.

Workshop Objectives: 

•Understand the purpose of systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
•Formulate structured research questions using PICO.
•Define clear inclusion and exclusion criteria.
•Conduct effective literature searches and data extraction.
•Assess study quality and minimize bias.
•Apply statistical methods for data synthesis.
•Analyze study heterogeneity using statistical tests.
•Interpret and report meta-analysis findings accurately.
•Use software like RevMan, STATA, or R for analysis.
•Enhance research impact with systematic review methods.

General Guidelines

•The abstract submitter must be the first/presenting author. 
•Presenting Authors are limited to 2 unique abstracts across all submission types. 
•An abstract may only be submitted once. Overlapping abstracts submitted by multiple presenters will be rejected. 
•Approval of all co-authors must be obtained before placing their names on an abstract. 
•A presenter may be a presenter on up to 2 abstracts. If all 2 abstracts are accepted, the presenter is limited to one presentation at a given time.
•The presenting author must register to the event, or the abstract will be withdrawn. The presenting author must register for the event using the same email address used for the abstract submission.
•Presenter agrees to be available to present in KSAU Al Ahsa on May 1, 2025. Remote presentations are not available.
•The Presenting Author is responsible for all expenses related to the presentation of their abstract(s) if accepted to the program. KSAU does not provide funding, registration waivers or other support.
•Abstracts must be well written and easy to understand, with results clearly presented. 
•Abstracts must be written in English. 
•Submission deadlines are firm. Late abstracts will not be accepted.
•Rejected abstracts may not be edited or resubmitted.

•Your abstract may have up to 300 words, which does not include title, authors, groups and affiliations.
•Do not include abstract title or authors in abstract text.
•Abstract text may be submitted using the following methods: either copy/paste, direct entry keystrokes and file upload, or send it via email to: contact coams-a-conference@ksau-hs.edu.sa  or coams.a.conference@gmail.com
•Your abstract may be written without the use of the following bolded headers: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
•Follow the abstract guidelines to ensure all required information about your study is provided in your abstract.
