The Clinical Nutrition program (CLNP) at the College of Applied Medical Sciences (COAMS) is a clinically focused program that integrates biomedical and nutrition sciences to develop a deep understanding of clinical nutrition therapy. The College adopted (with modifications) the Clinical Nutrition program of The University of Oklahoma in the USA. This program aims to enhance knowledge of the biochemical principles of human nutrition in relation to health, disease, and disease prevention. The goal of the program is to educate dietetic professionals in the application and interpretation of nutrition science, preparing them for careers as dietitians in various healthcare settings. Additionally, the program aims to provide graduates with a deep understanding of Clinical Nutrition through evidence-based knowledge and intellectual skills, encouraging them to become independent advanced practitioners and researchers. The Bachelor of Clinical Nutrition program is a four-year program followed by a one-year internship, where students gain clinical training in hospitals specializing in clinical nutrition. Throughout the program, students study subjects such as nutritional biochemistry, nutritional assessment, medical ethics, nutrition physical examination, and advanced medical nutrition therapy. Under the guidance of faculty mentors, students complete a research project, analyze data, and present their findings both in written and oral formats.
