Mission:
Faculty Development Unit focusing on offering programs that serves three main areas, Teaching Excellence, Community Services and Research.
Faculty Development Unit responsibilities:
- Provides a range of workshops for academic staff during the academic year that promotes creativity, high quality teaching experience, participates in community service and acquires new skills in research at COAMS-J
- provides faculty with a broad range of quality educational opportunities in a flexible, comfortable, and affordable learning environment
- Determine the needs of the faculty for continued development of teaching, research or service effectiveness.
- Recognize and promote creativity and effective teaching.
- Assist faculty in assessing their instructional practice and using that assessment to refine their teaching approaches.
- Recommending revisions in the annual faculty performance evaluation review process to improve faculty performance through planning, development and evaluation.
Faculty Development Unit Objectives:
- Promoting student engagement.
- Encouraging innovative teaching and learning practices that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Creating an academically rigorous and relevant learning environment.
- Facilitating college-wide commitment that supports access, student development, student success, and academic goal completion.
