International Day of Occupational Therapy

Conducted under the occupational therapy program by batch 1 22 OT female students supervised by OT faculty. This activity aims to introduce the occupational therapy field to the community. The students presented their arts and crafts which are created for therapeutic purposes. They used Mosaic parts in creating art pieces in order to improve the patients fine motor skills as well as improving several aspects as cognitive skills like focus, memorizing and attention, in addition to hands-eyes coordination. The students have also presented an example of assistive devises they have created to help patients do their daily activities independently. This activity also aimed to introduce the Occupational Therapy program to Pre-Applied Medical Students and the importance of this field in serving the community and healthcare services. ​

Future Pioneer Daycare Center, Makkah, Saudi Arabia

The occupational therapy program had conducted several visits to the Future Pioneer Daycare Center in Makkah on the Academic year 2018-2019. The aim of this visits in to introduce the OT students to the center services and facilities provided to the children with special needs. Also, the students were given a chance to partially participate in providing a designed group therapy to the children for the perspective of the Occupational therapy field. Then the students designed and implemented their own therapeutic intervention sessions with the children independently with the supervision of the OT faculty to insure the safety of the children and the quality of the implemented interventions.   
 

 
Geriatric Social services center (Female Section), Makkah, Saudi Arabia

The Occupational Therapy program at Jeddah have conducted several visits to the Social Services Center at Makkah in the Academic year 2018-2019. The aim of this activity is to improve the student’s skills on designing and implementing therapeutic programs that focuses on using group intervention as a rehabilitation method. Additionally, it helps the students in developing a therapeutic interventions program for patients in their social environment. The visits were done under the supervision of OT-Jeddah program faculty and staff to insure the safety of the patients and the quality of the implemented interventions.   
 

 
Backpack awareness day at 177 Government Elementary school at NGHA housing, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia​

The aim of this activity is to spread the awareness to elementary schools’ students, parents and teachers on how to choose the suitable backpack for the physical safety of students back. The activity was conducted in 177 Government Elementary school at NGHA housing on April 2018 with the participation of the program students supervised by the program faculty. ​​​​​

International day for disabled persons (challenges in multidisciplinary management), Makkah, Saudi Arabia

The event was conducted in cooperation with the Maternity and Children Hospital in Makkah as an activation of the Occupational Therapy international Day. The aim of this activity is to enforce the participation of the occupational therapy program students in community services activities and spread the awareness of the importance of occupational therapy. The event was conducted in December 2019 with the participation of COAMS-J Occupational Therapy program faculty and students.

The aim of this activity is to improve the OT students’ skills in using evidence-based practice in the Occupational Therapy field to evaluate the needs of rehabilitation patients in order to allow them to perform their daily life activities independently. The students have done several visits to the CRC- Jeddah with the supervision of the COAMS-J OT program Faculty and Staff between the months of November and December 2019.

The aim of this activity is to improve the OT students’ skills in using evidence-based practice in the Occupational Therapy field to evaluate the needs of rehabilitation patients in order to allow them to perform their daily life activities independently. The students have done several visits to the CRC- Jeddah with the supervision of the COAMS-J OT program Faculty and Staff between the months of November and December 2019.
 

 

Backpack awareness day at 158 Government Elementary school, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia​

The aim of this activity is to spread the awareness to elementary schools’ students, parents and teachers on how to choose the suitable backpack for the physical safety of students back. ​​​​​Role of Occupational Therapy with physical disabilities, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: (10-11 October 2021)

The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an online session about the role of OT with physical disabilities. The aim of this session was to raise awareness to the general population and health practitioners by identifying different conditions of physical disabilities, recognizing the role of OT with variety of physical disabilities and discussing the importance of OT in multidisciplinary team.


 
Occupational Therapy Day Celebration, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: (10 November 2021)

The program has conducted an online event to celebrate the Occupational Therapy day by establishing a basic/introductory knowledge base about occupational therapy profession in simple game competitions which helped the students gain more experience, demonstrate their knowledge & skills, analyze and evaluate themselves.

 
Occupational Therapy and Stroke, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: (3 December 2021)

The aim of this campaign was to raise awareness to the community about the importance of Occupational Therapy after stroke injuries, and educate and enlighten both the general population and health practitioners, including doctors and nurses, how outcomes may differ if the right rehabilitation is given after stroke injuries.








Occupational Therapy Department Student’s Open Day Activity, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: (Feb 12, 2022)

This event was conducted for OT students to increase their motivation and interests in their major. In addition, to increase knowledge about Occupational Therapy and our vital roles in the community in a fun and interesting way with the OT students
 

 
Role of Occupational Therapy with children who have neurodevelopmental disabilities, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: (Feb 20, 2022)

The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an online session about children who have neurodevelopmental disabilities, The aim of this session was establish a basic/introductory knowledge base about the occupational therapy profession in the community, increase the awareness of the community about the most common neurodevelopmental disabilities among children and educate the community to acknowledge and identify different occupational therapy roles and services with neurodevelopmental disabilities for children, which will increase their tendency to seek these services when needed.
 

 
Occupational Therapy role with mental and cognitive disabilities, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: (26 & 28 March 2022)

The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an online session about the role of OT with mental and cognitive disabilities, The aim of this session was to identify different conditions of mental and cognitive disabilities, recognize role of OT with variety of mental and cognitive disabilities and to discuss the importance of OT in multidisciplinary team.

Number of children with autism is increasing in Saudi Arabia and spreading awareness among public is very important to reduce malpractice behaviors with those children. Therefore, the Occupational Therapy and Clinical nutrition programs have cooperated and organized an autism campaign called “ "كن معي في عالميthat was located at the NGHA outpatient department which aimed to raise awareness about autism, how to deal with autism, and what is the role of occupational therapy and clinical nutrition with autism.

Rahat Jasad Campaign – Alandalus Mall 

This campaign aimed to educate the community about improper postures during activities of daily life, how to modify them and the role of Occupational Therapy in treating various conditions related to imporper body biomechanics.

 
Backpack Awareness Day – Dar Althikr School 

This campaign which targeted an elementary school aimed to spread the awareness between students, teachers, and parents about the importance of knowing how to carry the school bag correctly and safely.

This campaign aimed to educate the community about Occupational Therapy and the role of the Occupational Therapist in various domains and settings such as hospitals, schools and rehabilitation centers.
 

 
Postgraduate Studies in OT – Extracurricular Session
 
The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an online session about postgraduate opportunities in OT, The aim of this session was to help students and interns recognize the required documents for postgraduate studies and recall the methods of searching the recognized universities by Ministry of Higher Education.

OT Role with Common Hand Conditions – Extracurricular Session
 
The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an onsite session about the role of OT in treating common hand conditions. The aim of this session was to help students gain an overview of the common hand conditions they will encounter and how to manage them.
 

 
 Clinical Neurorehabilitation: Let’s Make it Simple! – Extracurricular Session
 
The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an online session about the role of OT in treating common neurological conditions. The aim of this session was to give an overview on clinical neuro rehabilitation, how to assess neuro related injuries and how to start drawing the treatment plan.

Overview of Saudi Commission for Health Specialties License Examination in Occupational Therapy – Extracurricular Session
 
The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an online session about the upcoming SCFHS license examination for OT practice. The aim of this session was to explain the process of applying for licenses and recognize the license exam’s items in the OT blue print.
 

 
Catch Your Research Project in Rehabilitation Area: Let’s Make It – Extracurricular Session
 
The Occupational Therapy program has conducted an onsite session on scientific research in the field of rehabilitation. The aim of this session was to identify the best way to start a successful research project and discuss the popular research topics in rehabilitation.​
