Dr. Khalid Alahmary

Assistant Professor of Health Systems Management
Dr. Khalid brings with him rich healthcare and clinical experience working at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center for several years. While there, he had undertaken many roles and responsibility spanning from patient care in general as well as critical care settings, patient education, staff development and education, and active participation in national and international health conferences. He also participated in hospital-wide quality improvement projects utilizing models and tools of process improvement including FOCUS-PDCA methodologies.

In addition to his clinical background, Dr. Alahmary has held local academic position as well as internship in healthcare quality management while studying abroad in the USA. He is a member of several local and international healthcare associations as well as scholastic honor societies.

Dr. Khalid is a health services researcher with special interest in the quality and performance of healthcare and public health systems. His main research questions focus on:
• Access and quality of primary care
• Health and healthcare seeking behavior
• Health services utilization
• Social determinants of health
• Determinants of inequalities in access and quality of healthcare services
• Multi-level theoretical models, methodologies, and analytical techniques in health systems research

Dr. Alahmary earned his PhD in Health Management and Systems Sciences from the College of Public Health and Information Sciences at the University of Louisville, USA, a Master Degree in Nursing Education with a minor in Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh, USA, a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from George Mason University, USA, and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from King Saud University in Riyadh.
