Prof. OMAR B. DA'AR

Professor of Health Economics & Financing at the Department of Health Systems Management
Dr. Omar Da’ar is a professor of applied economics at the Department of Health Systems Management, College of Public Health and Health Informatics, King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences. Dr. Da’ar was previously an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Professional Studies at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. He also worked as a graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota. He received his PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, in 2011. Dr. Da’ar is an experienced scholar in the field of health economics with expertise in health systems management. His research interests include health services, care management and delivery, healthcare needs outcomes measurements, healthcare resource allocation, comparative healthcare systems, global health, economic evaluation models, health policy impact, and value-based healthcare. He also served on the dissertation supervision committees of two PhD candidates and supervised the theses of more than 30 master’s students. Dr. Da’ar has received several competitive research grants as both a principal and co-investigator. He has published more than 30 original scientific research papers in high-impact and prestigious journals and has numerous monographs, report evaluations, and book chapters. Dr. Da’ar has made over 30 presentations at colloquia and conferences in Europe, North America, Asia, and Africa. Dr. Da’ar is a reviewer for high-impact and prestigious journals, including but not limited to: Health Economics Review, Asian Pacific Public Health, BMC Health Services Research, International Journal of Health Planning and Management, Global Health, Global Journal on Quality and Safety in HealthCare, and Cancer Medicine.
