This one-semester biochemistry course covers biomolecule structure, function, health, and disease aspects of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids and nucleic acids. Basic material related to acid-base, buffers, intermolecular interactions, enzymes activities, and coenzymes will be covered. It also focuses on metabolic pathways, regulatory mechanisms, and energy supply. Laboratory sessions will be conducted as well to illustrate some of the theoretical aspects, and to teach students essential practical skills.
