Course Code and Title: ELEC 312
This course is designed to introduce students to philosophy, concepts, and principles of palliative care nursing. It incorporates learning experiences that are designed to prepare students to provide nursing care for patients with physical, psychological, social, and spiritual problems. It considers the family as the unit of care, which include taking care of them before, during, and after the death of their loved ones. The educator presents topics which represent the theoretical foundation of the course and students present topics related to living with the stated chronic diseases. This is followed up with case-study discussions. The students apply the theoretical concepts and principles to assist patients to cope with end-of-life challenges. The Blackboard system is used in conjunction with the traditional classroom system.
