King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) is one of the leading institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia dedicated exclusively to the advancement of health sciences. It holds the distinction of being the first university in the Kingdom and the region to specialize entirely in health-related academic disciplines. KSAU-HS was officially established by Royal Decree from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz on March 6, 2005, following the remarkable success of the National Guard Health Affairs (NGHA) educational programs, which laid the foundation for the University's launch. The University operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of National Guard and is organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Education. It has been fully accredited by the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and offers a wide range of academic programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. KSAU-HS is committed to developing future healthcare professionals equipped with the necessary scientific knowledge, practical skills, and ethical foundations to meet the evolving needs of the healthcare sector, both nationally and globally. To welcome and orient new students, the University's Department of University Relations and Media Affairs has produced a comprehensive bilingual brochure titled “Who Are We?” This publication aims to introduce new students to the University's academic structure, regulations, services, and educational philosophy. The brochure covers vital information about all three campuses located in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al-Ahsa, enabling students and their families to better understand the academic environment and community they are joining. KSAU-HS is home to a diverse range of colleges and academic departments. The Riyadh campus, which serves as the main campus, includes seven colleges: the College of Medicine, College of Dentistry, College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health and Health Informatics, College of Nursing, College of Applied Medical Sciences, and the College of Science and Health Professions. Jeddah campus features four colleges, and the Al-Ahsa campus comprises three. These colleges provide cutting-edge curricula aligned with international standards and emphasize hands-on training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and research excellence. In addition to the colleges, the University includes several key administrative and academic units, such as the Deanship of Admission and Registration, Deanship of Student Affairs, Deanship of Postgraduate Education, and the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC). The KAIMRC is a pioneering research institute that contributes significantly to biomedical innovation in the region. Other essential facilities include the Health Promotion Center and the Postgraduate Training Center, which offer academic and extracurricular support, wellness programs, and professional development opportunities. The academic journey at KSAU-HS begins with the Pre-Professional Program, hosted at the College of Science and Health Professions. This program is designed to equip students with foundational knowledge in health sciences, critical thinking, scientific communication, and academic English, preparing them for more specialized study in the University's various health-related colleges. Upon successful completion, students are admitted into one of the bachelor’s programs in disciplines such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, applied medical sciences, or public health. Postgraduate studies at KSAU-HS are equally robust. The University offers master's programs in Medical Education, Health Informatics, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Public Health, System and Quality Management, and Bioethics through its College of Public Health and Health Informatics. These programs are designed to meet the Kingdom’s growing demand for healthcare leaders, researchers, and policymakers. Additionally, the University supports the Saudi Board and Fellowship Programs, providing advanced clinical training in partnership with King Abdulaziz Medical City. A unique aspect of KSAU-HS is its integration with King Abdulaziz Medical City, one of the most advanced healthcare systems in the region. This partnership provides students with unparalleled access to clinical training in a real-world environment under the direct supervision of highly experienced consultants and medical specialists. The combination of academic education and hands-on clinical experience ensures that graduates are not only academically proficient but also professionally competent and ready to serve in critical healthcare roles. The University's Riyadh campus features a carefully designed infrastructure that supports both academic and student life. The brochure includes a detailed map of the campus, showcasing the location of various academic buildings, administrative offices, research centers, hospitals, recreational facilities, residential areas, and services. There is also an internal tram system that facilitates transportation between King Abdulaziz Medical City and the academic district, making it easier for students to move between classes, clinics, and laboratories. KSAU-HS takes pride in fostering a student-centered educational environment where professionalism, integrity, and community service are core values. The University encourages extracurricular engagement, student research initiatives, international collaborations, and community outreach programs that contribute to the development of a holistic healthcare professional. With a vision to become a world leader in health sciences education, research, and innovation, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences remains committed to excellence. Its mission is not only to graduate competent health professionals but also to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of healthcare services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond. As the healthcare sector continues to expand and transform in response to new challenges and technologies, KSAU-HS stands at the forefront, continuously evolving to meet the demands of the future. Its strategic location across three major Saudi cities, its strong ties with national healthcare institutions, and its emphasis on quality education and research make it a cornerstone of medical education in the Kingdom. Whether you are a prospective student, educator, researcher, or partner, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences offers a dynamic and inspiring academic community that is shaping the future of healthcare in the region. KSAU-HS has undergone a dramatic transformation over a short period. It has changed from a predominantly teaching institution to a research-intensive university and adopted governance and management systems based on performance and best international practices. The University has set its sights on becoming a distinguished global university. King Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC-Riyadh) initially began as a provider of high-quality health services, and gradually branched into a pioneering academic institute through the following: High-quality postgraduate residency/fellowship training programs. Organization and management of local and international scientific conferences, and advanced training programs. KSAU-HS follows the rules and regulations of the Higher Education Council and the University Council, which is chaired by the Minister of Higher Education. The University has two branches, one in Jeddah in the Western Region and one in Al Ahsa in the Eastern Region. KSAU-HS and NGHA provide optimal health care for eligible patients and their dependents. KSAU-HS provides academic opportunities, conducts research, and participates in industry and community service programs in the health field. It will also provide educational health programs in an academic setting that fosters excellence in innovative learning, scientific research, compassionate patient care, and community health promotion that will enhance healthcare development nationally and globally. KSAU-HS is: A pioneering and unique academic project. Applying the best methods of teaching and learning.
