Pharm.D. Program Learning Outcomes

Knowledge and Understanding:

K1-Identify the general chemical structure, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, indications and side effects of medications and alternative therapies
K2-Describe pharmaceutical dosage forms, their advantages and disadvantages, and the physicochemical and biopharmaceutical principles involved in their
       formulation and manufacturing
K3-Outline the pathophysiology, diagnosis, pharmacogenetic and pharmacotherapeutic principles of diseases
K4-Distinguish the role of pharmacists according to legal and professional standards in inpatient and outpatient clinical settings, community, and other health
       care settings
K5-Describe pharmacoeconomic, business, corporate, management, regulatory (legislative), and quality improvement principles pertaining to all pharmaceutical
       practice settings

Skills:

S1-Predict the effect of chemical structure/physicochemical properties of drugs on pharmacodynamics, biopharmaceutics, pharmacokinetics, formulation design,
       stability and packaging
S2-Perform pharmaceutical compounding precisely, including sterile products, in a timely manner employing recommended quality control measures in pharmacy
       practice setting
S3-Use current treatment guidelines for classifying/staging selected disease states, initiating therapy and determining therapeutic endpoints (goals)
S4-Interpret medications response using subjective and objective information from patient’s chart and other relevant resources
S5-Evaluate patient and drug-related information in a health care setting, to identify actual or potential drug therapy problems
S6-Evaluate pharmacokinetic and pharmacogenetic data when modifying or designing drug therapy and monitoring plans
S7-Analyze medication safety issues and adverse drug events in addition to medication and non-medication poisoning in relevant settings
S8-Perform accurate calculations in relevant clinical and pharmaceutical settings
S9-Use proper research methodology and reference and data management software to prepare a proposal, conduct a project and prepare a manuscript draft
       or drug monograph
S10-Employ scientific and professional literature in addition to evidence-based medicine in research and clinical settings including the assessment of benefit
to risk ratio of medication use
S11-Present effectively to audience using appropriate terminology, skills, software and technological aids

Values, Autonomy, and Responsibility

V1-Demonstrate leadership, acceptance of responsibility and advocation of patient rights to safe and effective medications in a health care setting

V3-Take responsibility of independent learning and reflections on experiences to maintain competence and adapt to changes in profession
V4-Provide patient care including the construction of pharmacological and nonpharmacological therapeutic plans for disease states and proposing self-care
treatments and non-drug therapy, devices and relevant laboratory tests to patients and health care providers
V5-Communicate clearly and efficiently with patients, caregivers, health care professionals, and administrative and supportive personnel in health care settings
V6-Provide professional counselling to patients and their caregivers about medications, medical devices, non-drug therapy, self-care, and wellness in an effective
       and efficient manner
V7-Contribute to decisions made in clinical rounds by providing accurate and relevant recommendations
V8-Employ appropriate automation, patient management software and information technology to optimize medication dispensing and patient care in health
       care settings
V9-Respond accurately to drug information requests from health care providers and the community utilizing evidence-based practices
V10-Employ appropriate physical assessment using proper equipment and techniques related to disease management and monitoring relevant to practice settings
V11-Demonstrate empathy, professional and respectful attitude, ethical behavior and legal judgment in a health care setting
V12-Maintain objectivity while interviewing patients using active and sensitive listening to collect information related to disease and medication management
V13-Demonstrate collaborative attitude with health care professionals, and administrative and supportive personnel in healthcare settings
