Introduction
The General Administration of Support Services is one of the largest and most essential operational departments within King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences. It administers several critical departments, including Security and Safety, Fire Protection Services, Environmental Services, Food Services, Transportation Services, and Housing Services. Its core mission is to ensure that all its functions across the regions (Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al-Ahsa) operate effectively and align with the administration’s vision and objectives. Each department under Support Services is fully responsible for managing and overseeing routine daily services.
Objectives
- Deliver high-quality services that meet the needs of university staff and visitors
- Automate all services provided by the General Administration of Support Services
- Implement safety procedures to foster a healthy and secure work environment
- Operate and optimize the utilization of university facilities
- Organize health and sports awareness and educational campaigns; host various forums, and exchange knowledge and expertise with relevant entities
- Provide recreational and educational programs and workshops for university employees and their families
- Strengthen and activate community partnerships
Tasks
The General Administration of Support Services oversees multiple specialized sub-departments, each responsible for delivering high-quality services in its respective area of expertise, in accordance with the university’s operational standards:
Fire Protection and Prevention Department:
This department implements all fire safety regulations issued by the General Directorate of Civil Defense (Ministry of Interior). It handles rescue operations, life protection, and coordinates training for university staff on fire prevention and emergency response. Daily inspections of the facility are conducted, with observations recorded and actions taken accordingly.
In terms of incident response, the Fire Department in Riyadh utilizes its available resources and coordinates with the main station of the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs, as designated vehicles are unavailable. In Jeddah and Al-Ahsa, fire response falls under the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs. The department also oversees construction works, events, and conferences held at the university to ensure safety and prevent any disasters.
Security and Safety Department:
This department provides round-the-clock protection and monitoring of the university campus to ensure the safety of staff, assets, and facilities. It manages security investigations in coordination with the Investigation Department and oversees administrative processes, including the issuance of work ID cards, vehicle access permits, and contractor entry permits.
The Safety Unit implements preventive safety procedures across all university facilities and promotes safety awareness and a proactive safety culture among staff.
Housing Services Department:
This department provides high-standard housing units for eligible university employees and their dependents in accordance with established regulations. It also offers reception and meet-and-greet services to assist international staff with smooth airport arrivals and transitions.

Environmental Services Department:
This department upholds the highest hygiene and safety standards in accordance with the university’s policies. It is responsible for internal cleaning of offices, hallways, and restrooms, as well as external cleaning and landscaping to ensure a clean and visually pleasing environment.
It also oversees pest control and public health operations using safe, structured methods. In addition, the department supervises the proper disposal of hazardous and medical waste from university laboratories and clinics.
Transportation Services Department:
This department provides a range of vehicles to meet the various transportation needs of administrative departments and facilitates daily commuting for residential staff from their housing units to designated work locations. It also supports shopping trips for residents, off-campus student activities, staff club events, as well as university conferences and workshops.
The department ensures vehicle readiness and safety through regular maintenance and inspections and continuously monitors and guides drivers and contractors to maintain high service quality and operational safety.
Food Services Department:
This department is responsible for providing catering services during university events and for overseeing the daily performance of contracted food vendors in accordance with the university’s policies and procedures.
Employee Social Club:
The Employee Social Club organizes and manages a wide range of recreational, sports, and educational activities for university staff and their families across all campuses (Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al-Ahsa). It includes three primary sections:
- Sports Complex
- Recreational Club
- Childcare Center
